Enjoy the quest
I think I enjoy the quest, to keep searching for the visual language which is like poetry for me. I love the colors, the interconnection of lines, and most of all, the investigation of nature, whether it is from the natural world or the human one. I get excited some days when I begin stumbling upon a new revelation, another way of expressing myself through the medium of paint. I love when I can just fall into the moments of being, just lost in the process. I want to keep exploring and is that not what creation is all about?
Another Icon
"Drought," egg tempera, gold leaf. I am forever connecting nature to my life. Having grown up in a rural area, I still want to preserve the land.
Work in Progress
This is how it begins: "Hannah with the Blue Hair," 5" x7", egg tempera.
Building up thin layers with lines and glazing.
Silverpoint: Art Imitating Life
"Sticks & Stones," silverpoint on panel, 8" x 8" (Hands of my daughter and son)
A painting of my wonderful model, Meg.
"How Sweet the Air," egg tempera, mixed leaf, 8" x 8". I wanted to convey the sense of air and breath mingling together.
"In the Beginning," image for the 2016 Attleboro Art Museum Art Auction Announcement
This image was selected for the Attleboro Art Museum's Silver Anniversary Auction & Exhibit.
Egg tempera, palladium gold leaf, copper leaf.
I have been creating some silverpoint work, as it really it akin to egg tempera--very linear in approach.
"Intertwined," silverpoint on panel, 6" x 6". I enjoy creating these intimate panels as a way of drawing the viewer in. Private Collection.
"Caress," silverpoint on panel, 5" x 5". Private Collection.
Again, the intimacy of human nature connecting with the earth.
"Messenger"
I also love shaped panels, this one being three-dimensional, 7" x 8" x 2", egg tempera, gold leaf, oil. I remember doing this one as a means to hopefully connect with my mom after she passed from Alzheimer's Disease.
"Incandescent Siren"
Egg tempera, gold leaf, pastiglia (raised gesso letters: "Over ancient rites of worship, newer ones prevail--Latin), 19" x 15 3/4". This piece traveled overseas to an international exhibit and almost was lost, except for a Fed Ex official who located it.
"Book of Hours: Longing, " Private Collection
Egg tempera, each panel 5" x 7", w/frame: 9" x 14" This piece was also featured in American Art Collector magazine.
Want to show some more works--
From My Window Series:
"Blind Faith," egg tempera, gold leaf, etched glass braille with the line from Robert Frost-- "And I took the road less traveled."
